Style and Iconography

My style mood board is a comparison of NME and Q Magazine, NME is a more indie rock based magazine while Q is a magazine that features a variety of music genres. I have decided to model my magazine around NME choosing the indie rock genre, I feel this would make my magazine more specific in terms of consumers and readers knowing what they want to see.

In the mood board I decided to feature things that were typically used in the magazines, as I looked through several copies of each magazine i discovered that they both often include mobile phone, concert and alcohol adverts, Q included a lot of tour dates, and so did NME in their 'Gig Guide'.

I chose these particular font styles because they are typical and iconic of the indie rock genre and when people see them they will know what genre the magazine is. Some of the different fonts I used are also different indie rock/rock band's logos, I think the Kings of Leon's neon sign writing is very effective as it is unique to their new album work 'Mechanical Bull'
